2024 Cliff Notes Homework

Pick out a moment of day – favorite.  Isolate the moment.  Why did you pick that moment?

a.    Why this moment?  What is memorable?  Multiple use.  Favorite for this and this.

b.    Multiple use of imagery.  Sight, smell, hearing, taste, touch.  Make it new.  Become friends, not just lover.  Find out what the ordinary eye doesn’t see. 

c.    Expanded moment.  Show so they can make it again.  Why does it appeal?  Achieve effect of abstraction. 

d.    Aloneness of moment. 

Formula:

1.    Observation –look at moment for first time in life.  Why?

2.    Description – Show it as never before.  Before effect. 

3.    Speculation – what does this moment mean.

Approaches:

1.    Tone –authors approach.

2.    Want reader to emote as a result.  I will never be same human after this.  Fall in love with that moment. 

 Each participant has 2-3 minutes to share.
